Richard, you are right about Park Road. 126 houses have 150 car parking spaces between them, in their private driveways. Those residents never needed any CPZ because they never needed to park on the road. As you say, Park Road is now almost empty of cars, with all residents' cars safely tucked away in the driveways. This drives other residents mad when they see how crowded and cramped their own roads are (Park Road is one of the few roads in Grove Par where the vast majority of residents have their own private driveways), and walk down Park Road (or Staveley Road) and see a mile of empty road with no cars in sight. Totally insane of course, and exactly the opposite of what a sensible council would have done if they were genuinely trying to address the parking issues we have in Grove Park. All they did was make it so much worse for all those living in the surrounding streets. This is why so many residents are up in arms against the council over this issue. And of course the Stadium question can be resolved with parking restrictions on match days. It doesn't require an area wide CPZ. |
