Richard, the truth is that the Traffic Department really do not get the whole concept of a "consultation". They do not see this as an exercise for getting residents' opinions so that they can make the right decision according to the greater interest. Absolutely not. They see this "consultation" as an annoying bureaucratic hurdle to get over, before they can implement the CPZ across the whole of Grove Park. In the last "consultation", we were promised that all objections would be considered and responded to. There were over 400 objections and not one person ever got a proper answer. They just lumped them all together, told Ed Mayne he could ignore them all, and he signed the decision for the CPZ. And then threw all the objections in the bin. It was the same during the last "consultation". They only sent papers to the roads where they already knew residents were asking for a CPZ. They didn't send any papers to the roads which were not asking for one. The entire consultation process has been a total joke from start to finish. They know that if they keep coming back with yet another attempt, eventually they will get it through. It is not a consultation. It is simply paying some lip service to democracy. So they set up an online consultation, but the URL doesn't work? Do me a favour. |
