This issue has been brewing for some time. I walk my dog both in the earlier morning and late evening on Chiswick Back Common and the problem with parking is very clear. With the market stallholders, I'm not sure they will find alternative suitable parking elsewhere as space is much more limited south of the High Road. Perhaps an answer is for school playgrounds on Duke Road to be opened up but that may not be practical for some stallholders who make multiple journeys to carry their wares from their vehicles. It will be interesting to see the market organisers' responses but I'm sure they'll lose some stallholders along with a general fall in footfall because it will be harder for visitors to park. I can't image they will be happy. If you accept that the markets are a good thing that needs to be encouraged then maybe it is best to focus on the padel crew who have no real need to try and park their generally huge cars on Chiswick Common Road in the evening. There is usually plenty of space on South Parade and if not Sainsbury's is a short walk away. Personally I find not being able to park near my home during the day is a faff but not being able to do so in the evening can be terrifying. Therefore perhaps the best solution would be to make the Sunday restrictions something like 4pm to 9pm. |
