Traffic volume is not the same as traffic congestion. Studies by INRIX show that while volume has been relatively flat in London for the last ten years congestion has risen considerably. There are multiple explanations of why this might be happening which include more and larger buses and more delivery vehicles as well junction handling measures which increase safety but reduce capacity. Therefore your idea that these roads could increase with extra traffic because they coped with a higher level 20 years ago is incorrect. Gunnersbury Lane is already regularly congested and Bollo Lane already has to cope with tail backs from the level crossings which are so long that all the vehicles waiting don't get through at the first attempt. The strain on these roads is already growing because of the population growth due to the opening up of new phases of Acton Gardens. At the moment they seem to be selling quite slowly and so we won't know the full impact they will have until the are occupied. Problems are already increasing according to people who live in the area and these units represent a fraction of what is to come in the area. |
