Paul, I agree with your point that more people in an area whether it is residential or business will in general create more road traffic. Of course "more traffic" needs to be looked at in the context of the long term decline of traffic volumes in London. "more traffic" may mean the same volume of traffic there was a few years ago but less than traffic volumes in the 2000s. As an example, traffic over Chiswick Bridge has gone up following the closure of Hammersmith Bridge to motor traffic but it is still only at the same level as the traffic in 2007 and less than the traffic in the years before then. At least I brought some facts to the table as your statement "the majority of journeys we generate are for services that we require rather than personal transport needs." had no evidence whatsoever. It is moot anyway as I don't think there is any way your idea will get beyond a discussion thread on this website. |
