Although there is a secular decline in the number of traffic journeys in London over the last few decades (which has slowed or even reversed in recent years) you can't extrapolate that into what will happen in Acton and Chiswick when these developments go up. If you cram in a few thousand extra people into a relatively small space then it is self-evident that traffic will rise. The London-wide trend is irrelevant. If Bollo Lane is closed then there would only be two access points to all these new developments. One of them via Gunnerbury Lane which is already heavily congested and the other would be through Bollo Bridge Road which many people would access by driving up Acton Lane or The Avenue/Southfield Road. Think the Bedford Park Society would have something to say about this. |
