Francis, you have missed the point. DfT traffic count figures clearly show that traffic volumes have declined in the area over the last 20 years. Therefore if the new development causes a local increase in traffic, the resultant levels will just be the same as they were, say, 10 years ago. I don’t recall people saying 10 years ago that there should be a road built through the business park. Or are you claiming that the new development will cause an absolutely massive increase in traffic, and there will be more traffic than there has ever been at any time in recorded history? Traffic volumes along Gunnersbury Lane have declined by 20% over the last 15 years. That doesn’t mean it is free flowing now, but clearly it can carry more traffic given it has carried far more in the past than it does now. |
