"the majority of journeys we generate are for services that we require rather than personal transport needs" Where is your evidence for this? DfT traffic figures for Chiswick High Rd show 5.3 times more cars than LGVs, 4.9 times more cars than LGVs and HGVs combined and 3 times more cars than LGVs, HGVs and buses combined. The latest TfL travel in London report does show private car use declining while there is increasing Private Hire and Light Goods vehicle traffic but there is still orders of magnitude more private car journeys than service traffic. Your premise for a through road seems to be built on an incorrect assumption to start with. The next time you are walking down the road, you could do a quick check by totting up the number of private cars compared to all other types of traffic. |
