Thanks Martin for engaging with some informed opinion. I've responded to the points as you numbered them below: 1. The business park owners wouldn't want it - this is true and, if they actually own the road as well it would probably make the idea a non-starter but if they don't then they would be entitled to object to the plan but would have no right to veto it. 2. The road itself would have to improved - once again also true but hardly an insuperable problem 3. Tfl wouldn't support it, as it would impact their bus depot at the northern end of the eastern road - I would argue that they have a much bigger interest in the success of their housing development 4. As an idea, who would actually use it? - The housing planned for the area means that there could be 3,000 extra people living in the area. That will generate more journeys that the eastern end of Bollo Lane can cope with and Bollo Lane may also need to close to traffic at the easterly level crossing at some point. On the point about there being good public transport links in the area this is also true but even with the best possible transit links more people means more traffic. Bollo Lane east of the crossings is struggling to cope with the traffic it has at the moment. |
