London houses are bought on average once every 10 years, and a house bought 10 years ago has gone up in value by around 40%. That's 3% per year compounded, hardly a 'vast' increase. As for not lifting a finger to earn it, then how many figures are required these days to earn the money to pay a typical London mortgage - rather a lot I'd suggest. |
