As a reminder, the two 'flyunder' proposals put forward were either building a tunnel broadly where the current flyover is or building a tunnel from Sutton Court Road to Earls Court, with about an eight lane wide concrete canyon roughly where the new Porsche garage is, in order to provide for the 50% of traffic that wouldn't use the tunnel to continue on the existing A4. Worryingly, every Hammersmith Conservative councillor I've talked to prefers the long tunnel option, and in their local polling so do the residents (about 1% supported the short option, which does little to help Hammersmith's town centre). I'd therefore be very interested in *our* local councillors' and MP's opinion here, given that we've not been formally consulted on any of this. Which plan is TfL actually looking at here? You can't get on your high horse about bins and CPZs and ignore plans to cut a swathe through the middle of the area so some bloke in a limo can get to Earl's Court five minutes faster. |
