Levels of driving certainly increase as people get older and peak (from memory...) when people are in their mid-40s before declining again. However for every age group except the 60 pluses, the level of driving and car ownership now is less than it was 10 years ago. Essentially this means people are delaying their decision to get a driving license or buy a car until they are older, and more people are opting not to get a driving license or buy a car at all. So peak car use now is less than the peak 10 years ago. I'm sure economic factors have a lot to do with it. |
