| Guy, this is the link to the HSE page on Glyphosate; https://www.hse.gov.uk/pesticides/using-pesticides/general/glyphosate-faqs.htm It says "All companies wishing to obtain approval for their pesticides are required to submit substantial data dossiers to support their applications. The extensive range of studies undertaken on pesticides is aimed at establishing acceptable safety for people, animals and the wider environment. This process has been applied to glyphosate which has been approved as safe and efficacious for a number of years now." The HSE advice goes on to recommend using Glyphosate to avoid trip hazards on hard surfaces. Perhaps speak to an Officer at the Council responsible for Health & Safety. In ignoring the advice to avoid trip hazards by using glyphosate to keep pavements weed free, the council may be putting itself at risk of being found negligent, if someone tripped and was injured. What was the consequence of changing the contract to stop Hounslow Highways using Glyphosate? Was there an additional cost or reduction in service level? I imagine this is informatiom must be in the public domain. |
