The other con is that the govnt is forecasting steady growth in air traffic at 6% or higher, when its slowing down. CAA data shows that in 2005 and 2006 air passenger growth in teh UK slowed to 2%, which the CAA says is due to RAIL COMPETITION and the slowing economy. Have a look at the Ryannair share price to see what the 2008 economic outlook could do to passenger numbers, or oil anbove US$100. As every other major European coutnry is showing, it is possible to get people out of planes and onto trains, France is unveilling a 360km/h train and Italy has ordered 20 of them.
