"In 2002 the north runway arrival path is at 60 dBA Leq where it meets the Thames leaving Grove Park." You mean "was"! 2002 was SIX YEARS AGO for heaven's sake. What's the figure now? That's what people want to compare with. "And you don't need to speculate on the aircraft mix for the third runway in 2020 - according to the consultation it will be almost all A320 series or equivalent." In which case why is it longer than previously planned? The consultation document says it "would be slightly longer than previously envisaged (2,000m) to accommodate an efficient mix of all but the largest four-engined aircraft". [my emphasis] In other words, we can expect to see Boeing 767 and 777 and Airbus A330 on the 3rd runway. Data from the British Airways site gives the noise Quota Counts for landings of their current fleet as follows: Airbus A319 0.25 Airbus A320 0.25 or 0.5 Airbus A321 0.25 Boeing 737 1 Boeing 757 0.25 Boeing 767 1 Boeing 777 0.5 or 1 Boeing 747 2 Other aircraft, according to various other websites: Airbus A330 0.5 Airbus A380 0.5 Boeing 787 0.5 So a lot will depend on how quickly the airlines replace their current Boeing fleets by newer quieter aircraft. |
