| The planes are designed to land from an approach that is 3 degrees above the horizontal. I think this works out at about 300 feet for every nautical mile away from touchdown. Someone said that City Airport London operates with a 6 degree glidepath but the planes (and passengers) need to be prepared for the bigger thump on landing ! |
