| The other thing hitting hospitality is ordinary people feeling poorer and less confident, so cutting back on discretionary spending. It is a perfect storm. It isn't just Labour. One of the things repeated often when pollsters talk to people is "they're all the same". Lot of truth in that. Conservatives increased the minimum wage and did business rates revaluations that led to rises in bills for SMEs. Hints all round at trying to level the playing field with online business, but no action from any party. The parties are all funded by the wealthiest. He who pays the piper etc. If a large block of people have little or nothing, the 50% sharing 5% of the Country's wealth and a small number at the top own an ever greater share of wealth and avoid tax, it places a heavy burden on the middle. That is why politics is fracturing, people don't feel any of the main parties represent them. |
