| Is there any sort of ONS report or data that you can point me to that proves this to be the case Janice? I've seen plenty of reports of this, but they all seem to be generated by companies that provide wealth management and advice for multi-millionaires, so I can't say that I can rely on them to be unbiased in their outlook. Here's one "report" that hit the headlines last year. https://www.henleyglobal.com/publications/henley-private-wealth-migration-report-2024/londons-wealth-exodus (Interestingly one of the suggestions in the "report" to improve the UK's desirability to enhance the appeal to the wealthy is to "Move towards a Dubai-style healthcare system, which is largely privatized" - which of course is something that we should all embrace with open arms isn't it?) Here's a rebuttal of similar "reports". https://taxjustice.net/press/millionaire-exodus-claim-backtracked-but-media-re-run-story-anyway/ Maybe it's genuinely true, but maybe the report of the Exodus of Wealth from London is actually a bit of scaremongering to try and persuade the government to lessen the amount of wealth redistibution they are looking to do, to save these companies' clients who have no intention of leaving the UK a bit more money. |
