It started with someone trying to make a rather unsubtle and ill informed comment about changing history. Was it?. No it was rather clumsy attempt to bring your attention that> Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha is situated on Havelock Road in Southall, a road named after British general Sir Henry Havelock, who was involved in the recapture of Cawnpore (now Kanpur) in UP during the First War of Independence in 1857. This road is going to be rename because of the above, so removing another part of English history. I think that the younger generation should be taught about English History warts and all. That way we may prevent the mistakes of our fore fathers being repeated by future generations. Yes I will hold my hand up to the clumsy start, but the person who was making a mockery of my post was John Whitworth who says he's a teacher. There was no need for his rubbish reply as I think he though I got a right idiot here who doesn't know anything. But I find old teachers do end up thinking their better than anyone else. But as you said it has turned out to be a really good and informative thread. You have to forgive me as I was educated in Chiswick at a Secondary Modern School, which was pulled down approximately five years after I left. |
