I’m like Chris. I loathed history at school as the teachers were rubbish and the emphasis was on memorising dates. Such a waste. Now I often watch history programmes on the box and they can be enthralling. There are so many brilliant TV historians who bring the subject to life. I’ll single out David Olusoga whose House Through Time series are a revelation, particularly the most recent. It’s set in a house in Bristol that was built on the profits of slavery. It couldn’t be more relevant to the BLM discussions. |
