THere is actually enormous scope to engage our children with those around the world. Tracing their own history, how did they end up here, whether from Ireland, the Caribbean, India or just a different part of the UK. Engage with young people in the commonwealth, ask them the same questions. Get their perspective on Empire, get them to speak to parents/ grandparents. Living history, share stories, understand their past and hence the present. That would frankly be far more interesting, relevant and teach more skills than listing Henry's wives... |
