| What a generally heartening thread. It started with someone trying to make a rather unsubtle and ill informed comment about changing history. But it developed to show lots of personal stories and that history is all around us and all of us. Which was kind of my point Given the large Irish pop in W London, including my partner, its also true that I learnt nothing of the British occupation of Ireland from the school curriculum, nor the various unsavory periods such as unleashing the 'black and tans' on an unsuspecting population. The irony that many right wingers claim the current desire is to rewrite history, when its actually about being honest about it. |
