| To be kind to quite a few Brexit voters there is a good amount of them who genuinely want the best for the UK. They would not recognise themselves as falling into any of the groups you describe. Many believe the lies (did in 2016 and still do now) therefore they are certain that there will be a financial gain from leaving and that only leaving the EU will allow trade with non-EU countries. Many believe the influx of EU people (who happen to come from central Europe) has been bad for the UK. They see that as having squeezed down wages, excluded British people from work in the UK and forced up the cost of property. To them it is self evident that this is the result if 3m people arrive in this country. They are not being racist, they just do not particularly like the influx. I suspect if asked many would fall into one or both of these two groups. And they will not listen when it is clearly pointed out that their information and the basis upon which they voted is wrong. (I know, this means that they all fall into your group 1, 3 and 6). |
