I walk the high street most days and have got used to the 'Wild West' vibe crossing at zebras. Especially the one opposite the old police station. Nearly been taken out twice by cars who have literally carried on through whilst I'm on the zebra and countless times by bikes, but I definitely have to be aware of many things coming at me from all directions!! I was with an elderly relative on Saturday who was visiting and I suddenly felt very vulnerable on his behalf. I have also driven CHR and it feels very complicated. I think we, as humans, can only concentrate on so many things at any given moment (most people only being able to remember a particular number of numbers at any given time kinda stuff). With doufas drivers putting their foot down on an amber, doufas delivery drivers going in any direction anywhere on the street at any time, doufas cyclists not stopping at their red lights and doufas pedestrians just stepping out into the road, it all feels like a bit of a sh*tshow. But essentially, I entirely agree with the OP, it feels so much less safe. Humans eh?! |
