It took a long time ie very many years for it to be admitted that smoking tobacco was carcenogenic. When there is a very powerful industry behind something they are less likely to want to admit to anything untoward that might harm it. There must be many documentaries apart from Michael Moore's on the fight to find out the truth about tobacco. Glyphosate got a short extension licence from the EU. The vote was just in favour not overwhelmingly so. The fact that you can find it doesn't therefore mean that it is a good thing to use and certainly not where there are alternatives. We need to be bothered to learn which plants growing out of place are a big problem. Personal protective equipment should be used with it just as it should with many other chemicals. Unfortunately too many people just don't take the precaution of reading instructions. You need to proceed with care and remember that DDT amongst many others was once also considered safe to use but no longer is. Don't let us ever forget Rachel Carson's book Silent Spring and Joni Mitchell's song Big Yellow Taxi. Our love of quick, easy and cheap can do us a lot of harm and lead to making poor decisions which we may later regret. |
