It’s likely that the photo of a bramble overhanging a pavement is not the bramble which caused the damage and indeed is very unlikely. Possibly just a bit of a scratch. In my case with the birch tree I was well aware of the requirements regarding the overhanging of public highways. Removal of branches to a hight of 5 metres. In a conservation area with a Tree Preservation Order ( TPO ) Apply for permission, notice to be put on front fence then wait for 21 days for any objections. How could there be any objections when I was obliged to carry out the work? Job booked and it happened to be hot. I couldn’t just leave the men to it because it had to be left in good shape all round. So whilst they were up ladders I had to watch and direct them as to which and how much to take off. Make certain that the branches cleared the roofs of the 94 bus. Job done and then clearing up. Might as well do some weeding whilst the men cut up the tree branches. Easy and productive. Hounslow Highways have removed all basal growth from mature street trees but thankfully have not sprayed with glyphosate this year. Grass round the base of the trees has been left and what’s not to like about a bit of grass round trees. There is a weed in my garden although I don’t know what it is but the bees love it so it can stay. |
