| Well done, all the public-spirited residents of Chiswick! We are trying to do the same thing in Hammersmith, again on a very local scale. By the way, Councils have removed glyphosate from the list of approved weed killers as a result of a sustained campaign in the US, which alleged that it caused cancer. The European Union ruled that the allegations were not proved, but councils are ultra-cautious, and not looking to spend money on any chemicals, including many other less effective chemical weed killers. Councils have now adopted a "steam weed killer" which is a second-best solution. I will continue to use glyphosate (from B&Q and all garden centres) where I want eradication of weeds for a whole season. You need to be careful not to let it touch any other plants, like the ones you want to keep! |
