I'm all with Conway's, The Chiswick and La Dordogne – them's numbers two three and four on my all-time Chiswick gluttony glorious list where I must have eaten hundreds of times.  ..  And the Texas Loan Star for ridiculously great value cheap eating.  And later on our more sophisticated costa-packet restaurants like La Trompette where nowadays we always celebrate...

But Number One for me has always been Southeys.

Not (gastronomically) the finest.  By any measure.  But the place where fabulous nights among close friends took place most often.  Great cooking.  Great atmosphere...
