| How on earth can you say that "the group that thrashed the van were quite clearly not students. They looked thuggish and feral and had dressed in deliberately non-descript clothing as the criminal classes general do in an age of ubiquitous CCTV" You have no idea who is a student there. Maybe they are not 'degree' students, but most of them were there defending their EMA money. I think you will find that the criminal classes tend to wear suits, hats and carry briefcases these days, and go under the disguse of being a banker or politican. And I think you will find that there is a growing support to back the students, from tube workers to the unions....and what could be a more serious concern that the education of our young and defending the arts and humanties.
