| And when I was at University in the late 80s/early 90s the protests were about grants being phased out in favour of loans and we all know what happened there. Someone mentioned self-indulgent and frivolous, and yes, compared to the impact other cuts it certainly comes across that way, student protests invariably do. The other point being of course that students are a very transitory part of the electorate, it's unlikely that many of them will vote (as students) in more than one general election which is another reason why politicians of all stripes don't, and shouldn't take them too seriously. |
