| I'm not suggesting that there shouldn't be technology I am using it for goodness sake! I'm pointing out that there are a lot of jobs which have been lost because of the increase in it and just like when the mines were closed there does not seem to be a lot of training for alternative jobs available. What has happened to Adult Education? We now import a lot of cheaply made stuff that doesn't last, doesn't reach British Standards and isn't safe to use and is made by people working in dubious conditions and we throw away a lot of it after a short amount of time. We should be able to keep stuff that we have in use for longer and with a bit of care many things can be refurbished and mended. The amount of good wooden furniture that used to be collected in the bulky waste collection and then just crushed for lack of storage and further organisation was horrendous. |
