| The USA had and still has a huge problem with fentanyl - something which I think Julian has been trying to draw your attention to with the film he posted (I couldn't read the subtitles). We really need to be aware of this deadly and extremely addictive drug to make sure that we do not suffer in the same way. I have always understood that trying one drug led to trying another. Just a few weeks ago we had a Health Secretary who thought it would be a good idea to make antibiotics easier to get hold of and who gave 'leftover' pills to her friends. We have had it instilled in us with the help of medical professionals that we must finish our courses of antibiotics because of the problem of antibiotic resistance and not finishing a course may increase this problem. More infections are becoming resistant and we just don't have enough new antibiotics. As it is we often aren't tested quick enough to make sure that we are being given the right antibiotic for the infection. We need to be extremely careful that these free marketeering crazies don't cause us any more harm through bad legislation making. I am just not convinced of their integrity. |
