| My point is that families who have already put their young children in considerable danger crossing the Channel in small boats are in far less danger at Manston. Seasonal work is presumably related to harvest times, for which even October is late in the year, let alone November, yet I gather the numbers crossing the Channel has not slackened off in recent weeks. "Many of the people who live in Eastern Europe and are dependent on seasonal work can find jobs legitimately because they are EU citizens. Albanians are not, so they are forced to consider work in the UK." I caught some of the BBC's Hard Talk this morning when the PM of Northern Macedonia was saying that their application for EU membership seemed to be on the back burner, but I haven't heard that large numbers of Macedonians are trying to come to work in the UK. |
