| The 1951 Convention states that while asylum applications are being considered people should be afforded humane conditions. The UK is painfully slow in assessing claims in Oder to determine whether a person seeking asylum acquires refugee status. Once refugee status has been granted then refugees accrue more rights. There is no such thing in law as an illegal asylum seeker. 41% of refugees are children. 70% of refugees simply move to their nearest country. People seeking asylum are not allowed to work and receive around £5 a day. The UK has decided against setting up legal and safe routes which would solve the dinghy crisis and cut off money to vile people smugglers. Take a look at the Refugee Council website. It gives a more balanced perspective than the Mail, Express and Braverman. |
