Tom wasn’t arguing for discriminatory policies. He was merely pointing out that the A4 prevented direct access to many homes. (The only person on here who has ever argued for the (temporary) closure of the A4 has been me, and I was using satire to make a point. However, I see a new “group” called the A4 Residents Association has started arguing for it too!) Your logic is based on the assumption that anyone who lives in a Low Traffic Neighbourhood or adjacent to one is discriminated against. Despite the howls of protest from a few, most people, when asked, don’t mind or prefer it. I’ve lived in 2 LTNs in Chiswick, and despite the detours, there’s no way I would have preferred my streets to have been returned to rat runs. Those adjacent to LTNs also benefit from lower traffic and that may overcome the slightly longer journeys door to door by car. |
