| Are there any fit youngish men (ok, sorry persons) on the dole, not parents perhaps, - why can't they be asked to pick the fruit? Must be preferable to sitting slumped in a chair existing on hand-outs? Where did the foreign worker live and sleep during this fruit picking? Those beds must be empty so these youngish Brits have no excuse and they might even find themselves enjoying it. The East-enders used to make Hop=picking their family holiday down in Kent - I remember it - a lovely cheerful lot they were too. |
