| "Meant to say that Caroline Flint is to me a model of what a Labour MP should be. Displays bravery, common sense, pragmatism and an understanding of the need to prevent the destruction of business and jobs together with compassion for the poor. And a sensible attitude towards Brexit and this deal. It is a great pity more Labour MPs don’t follow her example. If they did, Labour might have a chance of winning the next election. On present form, they won’t." All I can say is I have known Caroline for many years and have always had a lot of time for her until this week. I get it that she represents a Leave constituency, but even so she doesn't have to stand up in Parliament and defend Johnson's nonsense and come out with that cobblers about zero hours contracts being the fault of the EU. The least she could do is say that as a personal Remainer she will represent what her constituents voted for, defending and supporting the indefensible publicly is something else again. The bottom line being self preservation, irrespective of what is right, this agreement Johnson is pushing will affect the least well off the most. |
