| "It is, at its core, about sticking one to johnny foreigner." To a degree that is difficult to disagree with. It surprises me when talking to people with whom I am acquainted who are doubtless intelligent and do not seem to be anti "johnny foreigner" that they nonetheless are Leavers and do not seem to have a reason why. It's just "we voted for it" and "let's get it done". There doesn't appear to be any thought as to the consequences or, indeed, any consideration of the circumstances of the vote and "evidence" used to get the vote. I am still waiting to hear a solid, logical reason for leaving. I do not mean "taking back control" or similar. No-one, so far, has been able to give a single example of where we haven't had control, not to mention where this might have been damaging to the UK. I also haven't heard a single example as to how we are going to be better off with new deals with other countries etc. I found it very telling that Sajid Javid has failed to publish a government impact analysis. Two possible reasons for this. Firstly, he probably hasn't done one, not having any useful figures to work with. Secondly, even if he has, I can imagine the appalling results for the UK, in the economy, security, health, food etc. No-one in their right mind would want that in the public domain. So, perhaps he's not entirely stupid.... |
