| First, the delay in calling a vote of no confidence is all about the 31 Oct deadline for Brexit. If you recall, the threat was that Johnson would suspend parliament through the end of October if an election was called - and this risked the UK leaving with no deal in place. However you do raise a key point that answers my question about the tories not getting rid of him. He is eminently more electable than any other tory, and most probably more electable than Corbyn. This says a lot about his stance on Brexit - harder messages than even the Brexit party was mustering (and thus pulling so many natural tory voters back from Farage). This also says a lot about the stupidity of many voters - even though they see Johnson lie on a daily basis they still would vote for him. Even though Johnson is clearly a complete failure and a disgrace of a PM, there are still many who like "Boris and Boris' messages". Sad, innit? |
