| You don't get it, do you. The reason why the Conservatives have not been able to destroy our protections are four fold:- 1. They were originally in coalition, and moderated in their more extreme tendencies by their coalition partners the Lib Dems. 2. Cameron is a Tory, but a progressive centralist, and not a swivel eyed loon like the current mob; He never supported Brexit because he was not a deregulating, economic libertarian. 3. May is further to the right, but still not a swivel eyed loon. In any event she burnt her majority, and has been otherwise occupied. 4. Most importantly AND THIS IS THE WHOLE POINT The UK CANNOT lower standards whilst we are in the EU, or the single market. This proves the illogicality of your argument, as requested. And our membership of the EU has demonstrably NOT destroyed this country. In fact we have been doing rather well since joining (after being the "sick man of Europe"). To the contrary, what is destroying this country is Brexit. That much is clear. So let's forget it as a stupid idea, and get back to normal and building this country in cooperation with our partners in the rest of the EU. |
