| While I admire your enthusiam, I think you are getting ahead of yourself here. A rigid frame bridge like the one at Tickfield wouldn't work for a long span structure such as Hammersmith Bridge. We are at the far edge of my very limited engineering knowledge here but a flexible suspended structure is the best option and that's why it was chosen for this spot. The original design concept was right but future generations failed to understand the complexity of the mechanisms that were incorporated into it and the importance of maintaining them properly. |
