| You never disappoint when it comes to providing a carbrained perspective on cycling Francis. Provision of cycling infrastructure isn't for the minority 'fast and the furious' who are happy being sandwiched between a bus and a truck but for everyone else who isn't. The large increase in numbers cycling since C9 was completed is testament to that. You are also mischaracterising people commuting by bike as being obsessed about speed. If you did any commuting by bike, you would see there is a wide range of cyclist speeds. People simply settle into the speed that they find comfortable. The great thing about commuting by bike is journey times are very predictable. Some people may be faster, some people slower, but each individual's journey time is very consistent. As for "As far as I am aware there was never a serious collision between a pedal bike"... Of course you aren't aware because I am pretty confident that you have never bothered to look at it. Par for the course, relying on your bias and prejudice is far more comforting that actually doing work to find out facts. If you did actually did research into collisions, you would see there have been a few dozen cyclist casualties on the bridge and on the approaches to the bridge, prior to 2019. |
