No. The original cost estimate included no work on the pilings other than some relatively minor foundation work. Let's be realistic, even if nothing else changes the cost will now be at least £300mn. Redoing the pilings would balloon the total bill significantly probably from somewhere between £50 and £100mn and extend the time needed for reopening. If this was needed, the Minister would know by now and she would have not raised hopes that the bridge could qualify for funding. |
