| Privatisation of services across the UK have caused a lot of fragmentation and lack of cohesion and difficulties for Councils and residents and businesses. I doubt very much that Guy was responsible for that across the whole of the UK considering it was started in Wandsworth by Council Leader Christopher Chope! Hammersmith has for years had its own in-house residual waste and recycling services as well as other waste companies working there. Lyric Square is fairly new and central and used as a marketplace so I'm not surprised if it gets special attention. It used to have its own little fountains. It got special attention too when H&F erected an enormous glass or perspex container in it and filled it with all the litter collected so that residents visitors and workers could further enjoy the amount that they were dropping rather than disposing of correctly in the area. |
