| It's one thing I've always wondered about many boroughs in London. Why don't businesses have allocated bins for their refuse (and homes as well). We abandon sacks of rubbish in the road at night only for foxes, birds, cats and so on to open them up, spreading rubbish everywhere. Early in the morning some sidewalks, especially on that bit of CHR East of the Italians, are sticky because of all the spilled rubbish. Why does it have to be like that? I've seen a little bit of change with the appearance of closed plastic bins (similar to those where grit is stored) outside some shops but it should and could be a lot better. I've seen some pretty nifty solutions over in Santiago de Chile where they have issues with pumas (!) on the prowl... Sure, we aren't blighted by the same problem but we could copy them and avoid a little bit of mess. |
