| “ Astonishingly, you see virtually no rubbish anywhere, because there is a permanent patrol, seven days a week, of chaps in small electric vehicles with containers on the back, who pick up any discarded refuse, either from the ground or from the many harbour-side restaurants. ” Similar to where I am in Switzerland except that the chaps in small electric vehicles don’t have to pick up any discarded litter because there isn’t any. The Swiss just don’t litter. They place everything in the bins so the chaps in small electric vehicles simply have to empty the bins twice a day. A perfect system and responsible citizens. Unfortunately Brits just don’t have the same ethos!!! And our local authorities don’t encourage decent behaviour! |
