| No chance of Ealing sharing the money. They’ll need most of it to increase the fly tipping collections! For a borough that constantly bangs the eco friendly drum they are remarkably inconsistent. All the towers they approve for building have massive carbon footprints, and that’s just in the construction. One tonne of concrete creates one tonne of CO2. Then there’s the cost of running things like lifts, heating systems and the like in these very tall buildings. We also have a looming problem of power supply in the UK. Demand for electricity is increasing, and will become critical once electric cars are the norm. Something equivalent to the output of 15 nuclear power stations. Renewables won’t cover it, and are vulnerable to the vagaries of the weather. |
