| These days life expectancy here in the "first world" is much much longer because of medicine and better living conditions. There are people who consider their lives not worth living and who desperately want to be able to die particularly once their illnesses become overwhelming - and have to go to court to be able to get intervention to end their own lives and are not allowed to. Then there are parents of desperately ill children who go to court to be able to keep them on life support when the doctors do not believe that they will ever have a good quality of life. We have created problems for ourselves here. |
