| Population growth is slowing and will most likely plateau at the end of the century. A major factor behind current population growth is not the birth rate, but the increased life expectancy in many countries - total population is a function of both the death and birth rate. https://www.gapminder.org/answers/how-reliable-is-the-world-population-forecast/ The number of children born per woman has been dropping for years and is set to continue.
