Sam, we undestand that very well, but while the trees will eventually recover (only to be butchered again immediately afterwards, as per schedule), the loss of nests, nesting places, eggs/chicks, insects and aphids has a very immediate impact on the wildlife of the area. Not to mention the sudden ugliness of a neighbourhood that only a week ago was lovely. Until a few years ago, IIRC, my area was pruned in a more caring way, and there were lots of starlings and sparrows. Very few of them to be seen now, despite many of us having feeders in our gardens. |
